Due to the Mediterranean climate it is possible, starting from the beginning of April to take part in a relaxing combination of bicycle tour and Buschenschank, restaurants that serve cold food grown in that region, tour and savour the awaking and ever changing face of the Austrian countryside as it exhibits a platitude of colours and moods right up until late in to the Autumn.
With its favourable climate, the hill country of southern Styria offers ideal training conditions for recreational cyclists, bicycle racers and families.
The region encompasses the communities of Bad Radkersburg, Halbenrain, Klöch, Mureck and Tieschen – you will be thrilled! A bicycle adventure along thermal routes in the sunniest and the most experience-richest bicycle touring region of Austria – in the Mur marshes and in the hilly wine area that encompasses it, including the possibility to cross over the borders in to the neighbouring countries of Slovenia and Hungary. Past the vineyards of Klöch and Tieschen, through the meadow landscape along the Mur river around Halbenrain and Mureck – or across to neighbouring Slovenia – the possibilities offered by the bicycle trails with excellent signage are just about limitless! The bicycle routes Murradweg R2, the R12 route with its thermal springs, the Eurovelo 9 route and the Wine Country Bicycle Tour all lead directly to Bad Radkersburg. So jump on your bike and start pedalling!
The Tour de Mur ending with the Altstadtfest festival in down town Bad Radkersburg is surely a special spring highlight.

The bicycle season always starts at the beginning of April with the traditional ANRADELN – the season opening in Styria. It is set for 3 through 5 April 2020! Various tours are always offered during this special opening for families as well as relaxed cyclists and those with sporting ambitions. You can register for the tours in advance or also on the same day right on the Hauptplatz in Bad Radkersburg. An extensive supporting programme also awaits you with regional specialities, a bicycle show, an obstacle course and much more.
The idyllic landscape of southern Styria makes an ideal backdrop. Uphill and downhill on quiet roads, lush blooming meadows in the spring, through colourful vineyards, through fields of golden pumpkins ready for harvest in the autumn, and also on a side trip to Slovenia, training is an experience for all the senses. The guided bicycle tours are held from April through October, every Wednesday starting at 4:30 pm and Saturday starting at 2:00 pm. Further information about dates and tours is available from visitor information, in the Parktherme spa, in the hotels and from all room renters in the cycling region.
